Design & Innovation Award 2024 For The Rear MugGuard
Mar 31, 2024
We're all a bit giddy at Mucky Nutz (more so than usual), as the MugGuard Rear has been awarded a highly coveted Design & Innovation Award 2024 – the Oscars of the biking world. To say 'we're well proud!' is a slight understatement.
Thanks to DI.A and all involved! It's a mighty fine way to start the year.
ABOUT THE AWARDS
The Design & Innovation Award is both a seal of approval and the benchmark achievement for the bike industry’s highest-performing products. The Design & Innovation Award is more than just a title-giver or a round of applause for brands. It’s the definitive award that decisively tests products in the real world, assessing them in their entirety and reaching considered verdicts. This year saw 30-strong international journalists, professional test riders, and engineers who are amongst the most renowned experts in their respective fields invest more than 6,000 hours of their time to partake in the DI.A process.
WHAT THE JUDGES HAD TO SAY
With the Mucky Nutz MugGuard Rear, the British manufacturer offers a versatile rear wheel specific mudguard for all kinds of riding, from trails to commuting. The two part construction allows you to convert it from a short fender to a full-length splash guard. The short version ensures a minimalist look and keeps nasty dirt away from your shock and calves, while the extended variant provides near-full protection against splashing muck and water. The extended version is an excellent choice for foul-weather commutes, whether you’re riding an analogue mountain bike or eMTB. A tool-free clip mechanism makes it easy to switch between the short and long modes. Furthermore, the Mucky Nutz MugGuard Rear is quick and intuitive to install, attaching to the frame with special Velcro straps, which are included in the box. A circular ratchet mechanism allows you to adjust the mounting angle to adapt the mudguard’s position specifically to your frame. The mudguard is made in the UK using 100 % recycled, reusable plastic.
